The hype for Microsoft’s new Surface Book is real. Yes, we are talking about the Surface Book 2 that Microsoft announced today alongside the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update. Basically there are two Screen Sizes available for the Surface Book 2. One is the 13.5 inch & the other is the 15 inch variant.

You can get the Surface Book 2 with either an i5 or an i7 processors. The i5’s are actually the 7th Gen Dual Core 7300U & the i7’s are actually the 8th Gen Quad Core 8650U. The i5-7300U is only available for the 13.5 inch base model & it also comes with the integrated Intel HD 620 GPU.

However, the 13.5 inch i7-8650U models ship with GTX 1050 (2GB VRAM) & also the 15 inch i7-8650U models will ship with GTX 1060 (6GB VRAM). Now, we’re almost sure that as Microsoft is using the GTX 1060 inside a chassis that’s just 23 mm thick, it’s a Max-Q version of the GPU. Otherwise it’ll be way too hard to cool down the device properly & the fan noise will be also super loud.

We do have that detachable performance base where the Keyboard, Trackpad, Discreate GPU & the Ports are located. Talking of the ports, we have Two USB 3.1 Type A Ports & a SD Card slot on the Left, a USB Type-C Port & Charging port on the Right side of the base. The Headphone jack is located o the Right side of the Display.

The body is constructed with Magnesium Alloy so, it’s more durable compared to an Aluminium casing. The Display aspect ratio is 3:2 again & the resolutions you’re getting out of it are 3000 x 2000 (13.5 inch Model) & 3240 x 2160 (15 inch Model). With the 15 inch model you also get the XBOX One Wireless Controller support built right into the device. Also, you can use the Surface Dial & the Surface Pen if you want as well.

All of these devices will ship with Windows 10 Pro (Creators Update) so, thankfully no Windows 10 S again this time like they dis with the Surface Laptop.

Ok, but what are the prices then ?  Well, this is where things are pretty expensive. The 13.5 inch Core i5 Base Model costs 1499 USD (8GB DDR3 RAM, 256 GB SATA3 SSD) going all the way upto 3299 USD for the 15 inch Core i7 highest configuration Model (16GB DDR3 RAM, 1TB PCIe SSD).

So, at that price it maybe logical for people who were waiting for this device really long and are die hard Microsoft fans or Content Creators who need that High-res Screen & Good hardware for their professional use cases. But, for anyone else we can’t openly recommend it based on the prices. But, if you want one anyway, they’ll be up for pre-order form November 9.
