Previously the Google Assistant was only able to control the Chromecast only from the Google Home. But, recently this integration has been implemented to the Google Assistant for Smartphones. This includes the Chromecast, Chromecast Audio, TV’s, Chromecast supported Speakers etc.
So, why Google didn’t actually included this feature in the Assistant for the Smartphones at the first place ? Well, we think that it was a pretty straight forward marketing strategy for the Google Home. What that means is, if that feature is exclusive to the Google Home then, the people who need that feature must purchase the Google Home.
But, looks like Google has changed their minds & they’re finally making some of the Google Home features available in the Google Assistant for smartphones. Like you can now choose your Default Music Provider in the Assistant & link your user account to it.
So, after linking your account whenever you tell the Assistant to play any song, it’ll play from your preferred Music Provider. Even on Chomecast enabled speakers or to a device where you’ve connected a Chromecast Audio.
It’s clear that with the recent addition of two new Google Home Devices, a bunch of Chromecast enabled speakers & now even with Smartphones, Google is trying to increase the usability of the Google Assistant to an many segments as possible & as Google Assiatant keeps improving, we may actually see a bunch of voice controlled IOT devices that are really accurate at their work.
