Essential Released Android 8.1 Oreo Beta For The Essential Phone

As many of you know, Essential previously announced that they’ll be jumping directly to Android 8.1 as Android 8.0 wasn’t that good. Finally Essential has released the Android 8.1 Oreo Beta for the Essential Ph-1 (aka Essential Phone).

The update includes several new features like Smart Text Selection, Instant Apps, Picture-In-Picture Mode, Faster Startup & App Sign-in, Google Play Protect security scans, Dynamic Calander & Clock icons etc.

It also includes the February 5, 2018 Security Patch & Slow scrolling jitter fix. Essential also released a new Camera Update on February 9 so, we’ll have to see how better the Camera gets with Android 8.1 Oreo. It’s nice to see Essential sticking to their promise of delivering regular software updates even after the device not selling that well.
