Honor India today announced their first smartphone which is targeted towards the smartphone gamers at a very compelling price point. The Honor Play packs the same flagship hardware that can be found on the Honor 10 or even the Huawei P20 Pro but, at a way cheaper price point & at the same time it is optimized for better gaming with a technology called GPU Turbo.
GPU Turbo is the technology that the company has introduced to max out the performance of the Mali-G72 MP12 while keeping the thermals in control & minimize the battery usage.
The SOC is the flagship Kirin 970 from Huawei which comes in an Octacore big-little architecture with four high performance cores clocked at 2.36 GHz & four power efficiency cores clocked at 1.8 GHz. Though, the CPU & the GPU are basically an year old but, they should hold fine for most of the popular games & specially with the GPU Turbo technology, the 3750 mAh Battery should last comparatively longer which can be helpful for longer gaming sessions.
Now, many people don’t care about the quality of the Cameras in a gaming smartphone at all but, for those who do, the Honor Play is rocking a Dual Camera setup on the back with a 13MP Primary Sensor & a 2MP Depth Sensing unit. The Rear Cameras have AI Scene detection integrated thanks to the dedicated NPU in the Kirin 970 & AIS is also available which enables 4-sec long-exposure hand-held shots. If you were curious about the 4K video recording support, then it can shoot 4K. The Front facing camera has a single 16MP sensor but, it does portrait mode via. software.
Other features include, a 6.3 inch 2340×1080 IPS LCD Display, 4GB or 6GB LPDDR4X RAM, 64GB UFS 2.1 Internal Storage, 802.11 ac Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, USB Type-C (USB 2.0), 18W Fast Charging & a 3.5mm Headphone Jack.
