NVIDIA Annouced The TITAN V Based On 12nm Process And Their New Volta Architecture For $2999 !

NVIDIA Volta has been praised for it’s super high performance & intelligence level. If you remember our DGX Station article where we talked about the NVIDIA Tesla GPUs used in that Personal $69000 Super Computer that were based on this new Volta Architecture. But, that wasn’t really a general consumer level GPU. It was geared towards the development of Artificial Intelligence for example, Machine Learning, Deep Learning & stuff like that.

But, we all knew that Volta will be the successor to these consumer level Pascal based GeForce & TITAN GPUs that are used by people in Gaming, Content Creation etc. So, that era starts with the NVIDIA TITAN V, a new consumer level GPU that costs almost Three Thousand US Dollars ($2999 to be exact).

NVIDIA TITAN V SPECIFICATIONS
  • Fabrication Process: 12 nm
  • Transistor Count: 21.1 Billion
  • Graphics Processing Clusters: 6
  • Base Clock (MHz): 1200 MHz
  • Boost Clock (MHz): 1455 MHz
  • Memory Clock: 850 MHz
  • Frame Buffer (Memory): 12 GB HBM2
  • Memory Data Rate: 1.7 Gbps
  • L2 Cache Size: 4608K
  • Tensor Cores: 640
  • CUDA Cores: 5120
  • Streaming Multiprocessors: 80
  • Texture Units: 320
  • Texture Rate (Bilinear): 384 GigaTexels/sec
  • Connectors: 3 x DisplayPort, 1 x HDMI
  • Form Factor: Dual Slot
  • Power Connectors: One 6-pin, One 8-pin
  • Recommended Power Supply: 600 Watts
  • Thermal Design Power (TDP): 250 Watts
  • Thermal Threshold: 91° C

So, 5120 CUDA Cores are definitely a huge deal when it comes to Graphics Intensive Works like 4K Gaming or 3D Rendering. But, this new Titan V also has 640 Tensor Cores that means GPU is capable of some serious Machine Learning. So, this indicates that the TITAN V & even the upcoming GeForce series GPUs will also be quite intelligent alongside being super powerful.

NVIDIA also claims that the 21.1 billion transistors deliver 110 Tera-flops of raw horsepower, that’s almost 9 times its predecessor (The Titan XP). Also, the 12nm Process Technology shall deliver great efficiency.

So, for 2999 US Dollars are you actually planning to upgrade to the TITAN V from an older TITAN or TITAN XP? Let us know in the comments section below. Oh, and if you’re curious about the availability then, it is selling via. the NVIDIA Store from today.
