Razer Has Actual Reasons For Removing The Headphone Jack !

When the Razer Phone came out of nowhere, it kinda surprised everyone. It’s probably the fastest Android Phone that you can buy right now & it’s actually the only phone with a 120 Hz Display right now. But, there were some major complains coming right from the consumers which were mainly about the dim 300 nits of Brightness & most importantly the lack of a headphone jack. Many people went crazy over the fact that Razer followed the 2017 trend & removed one of the most essential gaming things from a gaming phone. But, this story seems to be way far from the Truth.

The Razer CEO, Min-Liang Tan recently published a post on Facebook where he gave enough reasons to remove the headphone jack from the Razer Phone. He said,

“By removing the headphone jack – we were able to increase the battery size significantly (I estimate we added 500maH more), improve thermals for performance and a whole lot more……

The trade off was not having the jack – but what sealed it for me was that we were able to get audiophile quality sound with the dedicated 24-Bit THX Certified DAC adapter – and I made sure we included that with every phone. Which basically means we give even better quality headphone audio for those who want to hold on to their analog headphones…….

So in short, removing the headphone jack gave better performance, more battery – and on top of that, better headphone audio performance with existing headphones and the option to go completely wireless or jacked in via USB…”

I think that the Justification is kinda fair as when a device is geared towards gaming. That extra Battery will hold up better for longer gaming sessions.  Also, as the USB C to 3.5mm Jack Adapter is able to support that 24-bit Audio Output, we kinda think that in this particular case might somewhere be actually logical over some brands who removed the jack for no reason at all.

But, we still don’t have any proper justification for that dim 300 nits Display though. However, as we previously mentioned, Razer is working on some software improvements & additions on that Dual Camera system. So, it’s Q1 of 2018 & we’ll see how good they can do.
