Samsung May Supply 7nm A12 Chips To Apple !

The fabrication Process Technology for PC & Smartphone CPUs are getting smaller & smaller. This time the most common fabrication Process Technology you’ll find in most of the 2016 & 2017 devices is 14 nanometers. This year we’ve started to get even smaller 10nm CPUs. Qualcomm & Samsung have their own 10nm CPUs & yesterday Intel also confirmed the existence of their 10nm Core Processors.

So, 2018 is going to be surrounded with 10 nm processors on both PC & Smartphone segments. But, what’s next then ? I mean where the industry is going after 10 nm chips ? Well, 7nm chips are the next big thing. You may have already heard that IBM was working on a chip that has 7nm fabrication Process Technology. Well, Samsung isn’t behind. According to a recent report,  they’re also working on 7nm chips & Apple may use this technology for their A12 chips that is expected to come out in 2019.

For the mass production of this technology, Samsung may invest 6 Trillion South Korean Won ( ~5.4 billion US dollars). So, as we have seen through the years both Samsung & Qualcomm will probably the first companies to use this technology in their SOCs. But, Apple’s recent steps in the industry indicates that, they may also change their OEM strategy & try to move linear with the main stream.

As some recent reports also suggest that, because of a huge mass production capacity of OLED Displays, Apple will use Samsung produced displays in the upcoming iPhones, it’s also possible that they may also use Samsung produced 7nm Chips for their A12 CPUs.
