If you remember, the Underscreen Fingerprint Scanner technology that Qualcomm developed was first showcased in a Vivo device that was probably the XPlay 6 if I’m not mistaking. Yesterday, we got the news that Samsung may use this technology in their Galaxy S9 series & today we got some leaks that indicates that Vivo may also use this technology in their upcoming XPlay 7.
Now, don’t get way too much exited about the design. We’re about 99.99% sure that, this wont be the final design as even in 2018, this looks really impractical & hard to achieve. But, what we can expect though is that Underscreen Fingerprint scanner technology. Vivo was the first brand that was able to showcase this in real life & now, we’re a little bit more confident that we’ll be able to see practical implementations of this technology pretty soon. Maybe, within the First half of 2018.
However, to support this technology you need compatible Hardware right. We’ll the Snapdragon 630 & 660 already support this technology at early stages. But, the Snapdragon 845 will probably be the actual SOC where we’ll see implementations of this technology. So, that’s probably the SOC Vivo may use in the XPlay 7.
So, in the specification details above we can find the Snapdragon 845 along with 8 Gigabytes Of RAM & upto 256 Gigabytes of Internal Storage. The Camera sensor is the Sony IMX401 that also doesn’t exist as of now. So, we don’t know how reliable these secondary specifications are but, what makes us exited is definitely the Fingerprint Scanner embedded under the Display. It would definitely be a pleasure to finally be able to use that technology in real life.
