The New Oculus Go Standalone VR Headset Goes Official Costing $199

Oculus has just dropped their new Standalone VR Headset & they call it the Oculus Go. Costing around 199 US Dollars the Go sits between the less expensive Oculus made Smasung Gear VR (129 USD) & the top-tier Oculus Rift (499 USD). So, it’s targeted to be a less expensive but, convenient option of enjoying Virtual Rality in action.

The Oculus Go comes equipped  with a 2K (2560 x 1440) 16:9 Display but, the panel is an LCD & not an AMOLED if you must know. Anyway, Oculus have also included a new pair of Lenses in the Go that Oculus claims to be the best lenses they have ever made, offering a wider field of view while reducing the glares significantly .

There is a single controller that is quite similar to what we get with the Gear VR or the Google Daydream View. One exiting addition is the new speaker system build right into the strap of the headset.

This setup omits the need of the attached headphone setup that helps to keep the headset less bulky. But, if the user needs to use headphones anyway for some reason, Oculus has also included a 3.5 mm headphone jack. Also, the Volume Up/Down & Power button is built on the top of the headset.

By the way, you can’t get the Oculus Go right now as Oculus is planning to make it available in early 2018. So, a couple of more moths & they’ll be here but, what about the development segment for creation & compatibility purposes ? Well, the Oculus Go developments kits will be available from November 2017. Exact dates are also not announced for that as well but, it’s just next month so it’ll not be a long wait for the developers.
