AMD 2nd Gen EPYC CPUs Leaked Specifications Show Upto 64 Cores And 128 Lanes Of PCIe Gen 4

AMD EPYC Server CPUs are aimed towards the high-end workstations that is made for top notch performance. But, with the rise of Ryzen Threadripper, the gap in performance has been minimized a lot. So, maybe this is the perfect time for the AMD 2nd Gen EPYC CPUs to enter the game.

Canard PC Hardware recently tweeted about this & is what it says,

AMD 2nd Gen EPYC CPUs Leaked Specifications Show Upto 64 Cores And 128 Lanes Of PCIe Gen 4

So, according to this leak, the 2nd Gen EPYC CPUs will have upto 64 Cores packed inside. Though, there is no clue about hyperthreading as of now. These CPUs will also support the recently announced PCIe 4 standards with upto 128 PCIe Lanes. There will also be upto 256 Megabytes of L3 Cache & 3200 mHz DDR4 type RAM support.

So, if we compare the results to Intel’s highest end Xeon 8894 v4 then we see that the Xeon 8894 has only 24 Cores, 48 Threads, 32 PCIe Lanes & 60 MB L3 Cache. So compared to that, the EPYC 2nd gen looks huge bump up if this leak is true by the way. But, spoiler alert, our sources say that Intel may soon release 10nm Xeon Processors that will be a huge bump over the curent gen 14nm CPUs. But, we’ll see that when the both CPU giants officially unveil their next generation of Server CPUs. But the point is, the future servers will be way too much powerful which will push things like AI to a much higher level.
