Hey, it’s Tech Awards 2017 time again & this time it’s for the Laptops. Last time we did the Smartphones of the Year & we had some amazing & some times surprising results there. This time it was much harder for us because, there are so many laptops in so many Categories that it was difficult to choose a winner in Each Category. So, without wasting more time, let’s quickly pic our winners.

THE BEST INDUSTRIAL DESIGN

GeekSnipper Tech Awards 2017 – Laptops Of The Year

When we talk Design there are a ton of names in the mind. But, if we have to select one winner, it has to be the ASUS Zenbook 3 Deluxe. That Concentric Design, that Solid Chassis, that Beautiful 14 inch Display, that sleek Form Factor is the reason why the Zenbook 3 Deluxe made it’s way as our pick for the Best Industrial Design in 2017.

The close runner up will be the Surface Laptop for the Best Build Quality in any Windows Laptop in 2017 & it’s also designed very well. So, it does make it’s way to the Second Place. Actually they were really close.

THE BEST 13 INCH ULTRABOOK

GeekSnipper Tech Awards 2017 – Laptops Of The Year

This might be unexpected but, the Best 13 inch Ultrabook this year is the Razer Blade Stealth. So, Razer has refreshed their Razer Blade Stealth with the new 8th Gen Intel Core Processors & also that Gunmetal Gray Color scheme was a nice edition. It is build extremely well, have great hardware specifications & that unique form factor differentiates itself from the other very common looking 13 inch Ultrabooks. The Webcam is also surprisingly really good so, that’s why it is quite ideal for Skype Calls & things like that. So, that makes the Razer Blade Stealth, our pick for the Best 13 inch Ultrabook in 2017.

THE BEST 15 INCH ULTRABOOK

GeekSnipper Tech Awards 2017 – Laptops Of The Year

This is a section where choosing a winner wasn’t that difficult cause we think this crown goes to the LG Gram 15. LG has also refreshed the Gram with the latest 8th Gen Intel Core CPUs. The Gram 15 comes in a thin & light form factor & it is probably one of the only 15 inch options that don’t come with a dedicated GPU so, requires a lot less cooling & that’s what allows it to be so thin & light even under the 15 inch Form Factor. The Thinness, those minimalistic Bezels, that Powerful CPU & all of this into that super slim & light Form Factor is what makes it our pic for the Best 15 inch Ultrabook of 2017.

THE BEST VIDEO EDITING LAPTOP

GeekSnipper Tech Awards 2017 – Laptops Of The Year

Without no confusion the Best Laptop for Video Editing is the ASUS ROG GL702ZC. It is packing an 8-core AMD Ryzen 7 1700 Processor & a RX580 GPU. The 1700 is actually a Desktop CPU so, it has a lot going on & those 8-cores can push some serious horsepower while editing Videos. The RX580 is also a good GPU for Video Editing. Even after having these kind of of components inside, the GL702ZC is not super thick or heavy. The Display is not super color accurate but if the users want, they can always hook an external monitor. So,  no other Laptop is delivering this kind of performance in Video Editing & that’s why we chose it as the Best Video Editing Laptop for 2017.

THE MOST POWERFUL 2-in-1 LAPTOP

GeekSnipper Tech Awards 2017 – Laptops Of The Year

There are a ton of 2-in-1 Laptops out there & if we have to choose one, it would be the Surface Book 2 15 inch variant. 2-in-1’s are normally geared towards some segments of Content Creation. Specially things like Photo Editing, Drawing & stuff like that. The Surface Book 2  has that Super High-res 3240×2160 (3:2) Display, the i7-8550U & that freaking GTX1060 that makes it probably the best choice for what it is made for. It’s also very well engineered & that hinge also works very well. So, that’s how it made it’s way as our top pick as the Most powerful 2-in-1 Laptop of 2017.

THE BEST LAPTOP FOR PROFESSIONALS

GeekSnipper Tech Awards 2017 – Laptops Of The Year

This is the section where people use their laptops from Productivity to Video Editing & this one goes to the ASUS Zenbook Pro UX550. ASUS has nailed the Professional segment this year with the 2017 Zenbook Pro which is a huge step up from the 2016 variant. That slim all Aluminium build, 4K 100% sRGB Display, the i7-7700HQ, the NVMe SSD & specially the GTX 1050 Ti GPU makes it a great option for professionals who are using their laptops as a Productivity Device & even in things like Video Editing in their daily life.

We have to mention the runner up here & it’s the Dell XPS 15. The reason why it didn’t got the first position was the higher price while having a less Powerful GTX 1050. Even if the GPUs were similar, we have given it the first position.

THE BEST VALUE FOR MONEY GAMING LAPTOP

GeekSnipper Tech Awards 2017 – Laptops Of The Year

This section is for the Gaming Laptop that is a great value for money with Good Hardware. There are not way too many options here but, our winner is the Dell Inspiron 7577. Dell has nailed the Budget Gaming Laptop segment with the Inspiron 7577 this year. It comes with the 7th Gen H-series CPUs & a Max-Q GTX 1060 & the starting price is under $1000. It even has a Fingerprint Scanner built in and honestly almost no other Brand is selling this kind of hardware for this price & the build quality is also surprisingly pretty good.

We must mention the runner up here & it is the Acer Predator Helios 300. It also has the GTX 1060 & at a price around $1050, it is also a great value for money.

THE BEST CHROMEBOOK

GeekSnipper Tech Awards 2017 – Laptops Of The Year

So, what is the Best Chromebook out there for 2017 ? Well no surprise, it is the Google Pixelbook. The Pixelbook is built extremely well & it also comes with Kaby Lake core i5 & i7 processors that no other chromebook currently has. It carries the design language of the current gen Pixel Smartphones & it also has the support for Pixel Pen for things like Drawing and other creativity stuff. The Google Assistant is also built in so that’s a plus point too. The great build quality & hardware makes the Pixelbook our top pick as the Best Chromebook of 2017.

For those who don’t want to spend $999 for the base model of the Pixelbook, you guys are probably considering budget chromebooks so, in second place comes the ASUS C302.

THE BEST SLIM BUDGET LAPTOP FOR PRODUCTIVITY & LIGHTWEIGHT GAMING

GeekSnipper Tech Awards 2017 – Laptops Of The Year

This is a very desired category as there are many people who like to have laptops with slim form factors but, they also want to do some lightweight gaming and even things like 1080P video editing.

Choosing these kind of laptops can be super confusing but, our pick for 2017 is the ASUS Vivobook S15. The S15 comes with latest 8th Gen Core i5 & i7 Processors & the MX150 GPU.  The 8th gen Kaby Lake-R i5 & i7 chips are nice for Productivity, 1080P Video Editing & stuff like that. The MX150 GPU is better than the older gen GTX 950 and the performance is very close to a GTX 960 so, most of the Casual Games can be played at 1080P, 60FPS in Medium-High Graphics settings depending on what game it is. All of this comes in a Slim form factor as well so, that’s how the Vivobook S15 made it’s way as the Best Slim Budget Laptop For Productivity & Lightweight Gaming in 2017.

THE BEST MAX-Q GAMING LAPTOP

GeekSnipper Tech Awards 2017 – Laptops Of The Year

This is an interesting category as Max-Q is the technology that brought Performance & Portability together. Our pick in this Category is the ASUS ROG Zephyrus GX501. The Zephyrus comes packed with a freaking GTX 1080 & an i7-7700HQ in an extremely well build chassis that is only 16.9 mm in thickness & 2.25 Kilograms in weight. This basically means that it is currently the thinnest laptop available with a GTX 1080. The thermal design is also very impressive on this one. The 120Hz 1080P IPS Display supports G-sync & all these components together unlock an amazing Gaming Experience for the user. Another thing is this laptop doensn’t look like a Gaming laptop that much so, if the users want they can carry it around for other purposes as well.

The runner up is the Acer Predator Triton 700. It has a better Mechanical type Keyboard compared to the regular Membrane one on the Zephyrus & it also supports CPU overclocking via. pre-installed software. But, it is also a bit Thicker & Heavier compared to the Zephyrus & the Button-less Glass Trackpad is really impractical. The design is also like typical gaming laptops. Both the Zephyrus & the Triton 700 are expensive devices so, the Triton 700 is a laptop at that price which is made only for gaming but, the Zephyrus also serves other purposes very well of being a super high-end Laptop. That’s why the Triton 700 got the second place.

That wraps up our list for the Laptops Of The Year. Congratulations to all the OEMs whose devices were selected for the Geeksnipper Tech Awards 2017. We definitely appreciate what you guys did in 2017 & we are looking forward to an even better 2018 !
