We all knew that the new Intel’s 8th Gen Coffeelake H-series Laptop CPUs Exposed for Laptops were on their way. But, what we got was G-series CPUs with dedicated Vega Graphics. So, what happened to the H-series CPUs then? Well, they are coming in full glory & VideoCardz gives up a far superior look into these CPUs alongside two new Laptops that’ll be using these CPUs.
According to the chart above, the Coffeelake H-series will have 5 new CPUs initially. The list includes the Quadcore i5-8300H & i5-8400H CPUs, the Hexacore i7-8750H & i7-8850H CPUs and lastly the Hexacore i9-8950HK Overclockable CPU.
Now as I mentioned earlier, two new Laptops have been leaked already which are running these new Coffelake H-series CPUs. These are respectively the ASUS ROG Zephyrus 2018 & Acer Predator Helios 500.
ASUS ROG Zephyrus 2018
The original ROG Zephyrus was the world’s first NVIDIA Max-Q enabled laptop that got praised by almost every tech enthusiast including us. Now, ASUS is bringing the successor to the Zephyrus which is expected to be powered by the 6-core i7-8750H & it also receive a GPU upgrade if NVIDIA manages to launch their new 20-series GPUs within the launch of this product. Otherwise it’ll be a Max-Q GTX 1080 again.
Though the design looks pretty similar here, ASUS has definitely changed the positioning of the Trackpad to the Front & shifted the Keyboard back where it generally belongs. The front shifted Keyboard was a nightmare to many specially when they were using the Laptop on the laps. So, it’s nice to see that, ASUS is trying to overcome those issues while keeping that slim form factor.
Acer Predator Helios 500
The Acer Predator Helios 500 is the successor to the Helios 300 from last year. The Helios 500 is expected to arrive in two variants. One with a regular 6-core i7-8750H & another one with an overclockable 6-core i9-8950HK.
Compared to the Helios 300 the Helios 500 looks quite thicker & that’s understandable because of the Overclockable CPU. However, we don’t have any idea if the i7-8750H model will share the same chassis or not.
These laptops & many other with 8th Gen Coffeelake-H CPUs will come out somewhere in late Q2 of this year. So, in case you want to buy a new gaming laptop, you might want to hold on for a few months more.
