HTC U11 was a great device & the HTC U11+ has all that the regular U11 had but, it also included that new 18:9 Display. Next year HTC plans to announce fewer devices & that brings us directly to the HTC U12.
According to a recent report by Digitimes, next year the U12 might come out with a 4K Display, a Snapdragon 845 & finally with Dual Rear Cameras after a long long time. However, the 4K Panel will again be an IPS one as far our expectations go. The Snapdragon 845 will be a standard in the 2018 flagships so, that’s not a surprise at all.
We are expecting the Dual Rear cameras to be really good as that’s what HTC hinted recently. The cameras shall be able to compete with the Pixel 2 & Galaxy S9. HTC has made good cameras in the past so, we are hoping a lot from the HTC U12 & we have to see what will be the exact approach for that Dual Camera setup.
The report also suggested a Mid-tier version of the U11+ in early January 2018 which will probably be an updated version of the U11 Life with an 18:9 Display. But, there will be a Single Camera again on this device. So, HTC is bringing a few tweaks in the 2018 line up but, we’ll have to see how well they can do. Specially, if HTC wants to do something in 2018, they must keep the prices a bit lower cause, this was one of the reasons why they have faced losses in the first three quarters of 2017.
